Dear Power
Thank you...
For we now know
But for you
they would have tricked us
used us
and dumped us, again
But for you
they would have ganged up
sold all
and mocked us, again
Dearest Power
Thank you...
For we now know
When we fought for freedom
they joined the dictators
When we sought democracy
they joined the usurpers
We forgave
they forgot
We voted
they plotted
We danced for nation
they pranced for pocket
Now is time for change
they forget their oath
Now is time to render
they forget their pledge
Thank you Power
for piercing their ranks
for showing their soul
and sheathing our sword
Oh, thank you Power
They would have used us, again
conned us again
Yes...
They would have killed, maimed
and fooled us, again
But Power, dear Power
You've shown them to us, anew
Yes...
Since you tackled them at noon
exposing their post and posing
they can't fool us at night, again
Yes...
Come election, next Elections
their chickens will come home
to roost
Pay Day is round the corner for elected officials who do not perform. And why not? Never take voters for a ride, nor your nation for granted. No.
Now it happens everywhere: politicians failing the electorate. So, this is not a third world sin. It is universal, and is becoming surprisingly globalised.
2007 will follow 2006 in punishing the guilty. No question.
For Nigeria, my country, we are entering our Era of Renaissance from this year. Let all who love this land work for that. Thank you for your positive part.
