Bursting with life to-dawn
Gushing no lines of hype
There is a season this day
da first light of August
my moon of precious dreams
Welcome!
Bring me friends
that fend for freedom
so fiends have no say
Goad me on
to love my nation
so loot will not pay
Grant me heart
that lives in honour
so dreams may take hold
Welcome!
As you come, Dear August
bring me a chair
so we can rock and rock
Find me gems
that fit real labour
so fakes get no harbour
Tell me tales that edify
show me maps that magnify
and sell me da deal
As we deal, this autumn
lead me, alas
Teach me
Train me
Tend me in measures and mind
Make me be strong
that I may serve
Take me to tips
that mirrors can't trip
Welcome!
A nation be nation
or notion
I want mine to hold
A nation be passion
or passe
I love mine to pose
Shake my nation
that it may function
so patriots hold da reins
Shape my this home
that it be haven
so da heavens may joy, at last
Welcome!
Bursting and gushing with zest
I dream no evil
Rearing and gearing to give
I dream sweet hurry
Come, Dear August
come home with rain
Be my known and august guest
day, week and month
Be my task and veneer-mark
year, year and year
Be key when they lock
and cheese when I bake
Be tough when I doubt
and swell I rout
Then, answer the truth
as be asked of time:
Am I worthy?
Yes, says AUGUST...
I've made you so!
Just as the Internet happened upon us and changed our world, I foresee poetry in a new and renewed resurgence: the shorthand for social communication, back-stopping our drift away from heavy reading. Verses for the Masses promotes the Culture of "Popular Poetry", will help make our day, our way, our world, a better blend. Here be First Leg of my Literature Tripod & New Media Offerings.
