On and on you called
and claimed
Ears and earful we heard
and beamed
On and on you railed
and blamed
Eyes and eyeful we saw
and deemed
You be redeemed
will redeem, yes?
You be our sail
will not derail, yes?
On and on we looked
and shrugged
Pride and ride were all
you cared
Damn all
On and on we called
in vain
Pain and strain you built
all day
Damn love
Now you pay, yet will
still pay
despite your stay
today
Now we retrace, return
to base
One more strain, teary pain
to one, and all
From my suite last month I beheld a bruised and blazing couple, or couple-to-be/has-been, in a most virulent and verbally violent display! Was it love or war finding one and all? Or was it what was lost making way to stay? The silent crowd watched, alas.
In the end, they made peace - sort of. By then, too much had been expended, so much will need to give and be given. Trust the poet to ponder and ponder alone...both in wonder about love, and the business it holds. What a strain...and no restraint!
Lessons.
Just as the Internet happened upon us and changed our world, I foresee poetry in a new and renewed resurgence: the shorthand for social communication, back-stopping our drift away from heavy reading. Verses for the Masses promotes the Culture of "Popular Poetry", will help make our day, our way, our world, a better blend. Here be First Leg of my Literature Tripod & New Media Offerings.
