Each night, and the dark smiles
I go high, high with stars
Come dawn, and the cockcrow
I am on the climbdown, and low
Each dawn the cock crows
I go low, low and low
I dread the light of dawn
and the fright it draws
I fight to keep me drawn
to the only one I love
Come dawn, Dear One
my heart pounds for fear...
Fear of distance
Fear of another. Another -
who may tear what we have
or tug away at it - sheer monster
Then, the tough part: meeting
you at dusk, before our night falls
for us...just you and me
Ecstasy
Having you to me
shutting all away
And the silent night
speaking love in signs and sighs
lofting us afloat in grips and gasps
No gloating
Sweet groaning
Taking us as one, staking all, alas
How meekly, how milking
each still - once and future -
still soothing - now and ever
seeping the darkness of nights
Then, like clockwork - strict and fair -
Nature, so sweet moments ago, bleeds
in the dreaded dawn
And I am drawn
Yes, drawn...again
Come dawn, and the cockcrow
I wonder
Each dawn the cock crows
I wonder
slowly picking my ponder
in tow...
Where in the world would you rather be, or who in the world would you rather be, other than one or both these love-stricken souls?!
But be sure, dear luster, that you have the heart to "wait & await".
If you see what I mean!
Just as the Internet happened upon us and changed our world, I foresee poetry in a new and renewed resurgence: the shorthand for social communication, back-stopping our drift away from heavy reading. Verses for the Masses promotes the Culture of "Popular Poetry", will help make our day, our way, our world, a better blend. Here be First Leg of my Literature Tripod & New Media Offerings.
