Sounds do trample and straddle
Voices come to kill and heal
Sounds may level or revel
Voices do split or lift
And none will come your way
any way
until you choose your way
- whether carefully, even carelessly -
as you set out in life, set sail for life
Coming to grief
Going past hate
Picking your heights and the poles
Choosing love and lovers
homes and home-makers
business, or biz-partners
As you handle the map of life
and plot your path, lead your life
All be not lost
As you guard your compass
and guide your steps, watch your way
There be come-back
You are alone, or must atone
never truly in a real crowd
until you're home, or in jail
Well, you can float or bloat -
it's by the store you set
Come-back kids abound:
From poverty to prosperity to penury
and slowly, surely back to fame
From primacy to prison to presidency
From chastity to calamity to celebrity
From honour to disgrace to dignity
From piety to propaganda, to promiscuity
and measurably back to pulpit
From diva to drugs to dungeon and duffs
You come back if you're tough
You stay down if you're lost
But no one goes or comes sans luck
History is full, isn't it, of mysteries and myths. You can find enough examples of freaks, failures and fliers. Then, there are these amazing resilients: people who make turns, runs, twists and turnarounds. We call them the come-back kids.
Whether you be on or off, right now, take a good note!
Just as the Internet happened upon us and changed our world, I foresee poetry in a new and renewed resurgence: the shorthand for social communication, back-stopping our drift away from heavy reading. Verses for the Masses promotes the Culture of "Popular Poetry", will help make our day, our way, our world, a better blend. Here be First Leg of my Literature Tripod & New Media Offerings.
